aren't these note cards too cute? "chocolate on the brain", that is me to a "t". i love the stuff. i am a chocolate, dark chocolate, junkie. i am diabetic, but still indulge in some bittersweet pleasure every so often, okay, pretty much every freaking day. i can not lie. i am always on the search for the best super dark, 80% or higher, i can find. lately, i have been nibbling on a huge bag(sam's club size) of dark bittersweet ghirardelli chips. i just let them slowly melt in my mouth, a real treat with a cup of hot coffee. anyway, when i saw these little note cards at tj maxx today i just


knew i needed to buy them, so i could them give away. there are 12 different designs with a chocolate recipe on the back of each. i love stationary. i am always in need of little cards like this to send to my daughter's school, etc...

a cupcake giveaway

i want to give you a chocolate cupcake, well a chocolate sock cupcake in honor of the arrival of spring, but most notably my chickens! they should be here saturday and i can not wait. we plan to get three pullets, so chicken names are big talk in the house. well, mostly big talk for me, i can't seem to let it go. i told my kids they can name one and i get to name the other two. they have already decided on abby for their chick. i love that choice. me, i can not make up my mind. i do like people names rather than cutesy names like potpie or dumplin'. i lean towards names such as dolly, martha and hattie, even blanche. this has become as important to me as naming my human children was. now where did i put my old baby name book?



anyway, how about some name suggestions? if you will submit your favorites via comments, i will randomly pick someone to win my sock-it-to-me cupcake. it can be displayed or worn. it is simply made with ladies socks. i also plan to send a few more sneaky surprises along with it. come on and play with me. get cracking.

do you know this cookie? if not, you might soon because i am going to be giving a few boxes away. these are a seasonal cookie sold by trader joe's and they are addicting! picture an oreo and its dreamy, creamy filling spiked with real peppermint and tiny bits of candy cane. ho,ho, ho this is good stuff folks. i bought my first, but not last, box of the year today. travis and i couldn't wait and promptly ripped into them right in front of the cookie display. keep your figgy pudding and give us candy cane joe-joe's.

oh, i feel like i am falling for fall..the winner!!

fall is my favorite season, next to lunch. wait, that is not right. jeeze, how silly, lunch always comes first. anyway, i love fall and it is finally beginning to look and feel like fall in these here parts. i love the cool weather, pretty colors, and smells that fall brings. i also love all of the cooking, baking and eating. it seems like fall makes it acceptable or okay for the impending overindulging that looms around the corner with thanksgiving and christmas. the sugar rush of halloween doesn't count. to celebrate i am having a little contest, nothing big or fancy. i don't have a "pioneer woman" budget, so don't go looking for a kitchen aid mixer or nothing. i just wanted to share with you a little fall care package that includes the cute little sprinkles and cupcake set posted, along with a few other surprises.

let's say you have till saturday midnight to answer my question and i will post the winner sunday, sometime. make sure you leave me a way to contact you and i need to limit it to the u.s. only(due to food products).

coffee, tea and a little contest sponsored by me!

well, i was at the market today and ran across one of my all time and difficult to find, favorite teas, celestial seasonings bengal spice. this is such a tasty, spicy herbal tea and although it is in the 90's outside today, it got me thinking. what are your favorite cold weather drinks? as for me, i am a late comer in life to drinking both hot coffee and hot tea, of course, being a southern gal, both coffee and tea(mostly iced) were a constant. i grew up in a household of coffee drinkers, perked, instant and then mr. coffee, but i never liked any of it. i tried to doctor it up, but i still couldn't see what the fuss was about until i hit forty. then something awoke inside me craving hot coffee and hot tea(sushi too, but we won't go there) and i have been on a trip of enlightenment ever since. i thought it would be fun to share we you my readers, all three of you, a few of my favorites. i was thinking if you would leave a comment about what you love to drink when the weather is cool, i would randomly select someone to receive a little package. now, it won't be no honking size package, just a little gift from me to you. it won't be a box of gourmet stuff. i don't drink gourmet stuff, just things i have found and enjoy. also, it won't be some of my stuff. i'll send you new stuff. it may be tea, coffee, cocoa, who knows? let's say we will run this contest for a week, next Friday, the 28th with the winners Saturday morning. make sure there is a way i can contact you in your post. also, i need to keep it confined to the states, 'cause i hate to ship someplace where is might get confiscated. some countries are so picky. i don't want to be responsible for causing the extinction of some rare bird or something. okay, let's do this. enjoy.
