chocolate chunk mocha cookies

well, not quite. my family nixed the idea of the mocha frosting, so let's call them chocolate chocolate chunk ugly cookies. this is my first week of the 12 weeks of christmas cookies with some of my fellow food bloggers. i made a bad choice. the cookies are good, very chocolaty, moist, but boring and ugly. they came out of my southern living christmas cookbook and you can find the recipe online here. they got the highest rating from the sl's test kitchen, just not mine. maybe you can do a better job. enjoy.

maybe the frosting would have helped....

Better to get the worst ones out of the way to make the rest of the 11 weeks ones your whole family love, right? Better luck next week!

I wouldn't fret. I've tried three recipes already and neither of them have wowed me. Back to the drawing board I go.

Some of the best goodies are plain jane looking ones! And who can deny a big chunk of chocolate cookie? Yum! I think the mocha frosting would of been great here too!

That's why trying different recipes is fun. We're always looking for that "keeper" recipe. Plus, chocolate is very hard to photograph. I'll be back next week to see what you bake up.

From the name of these cookies I assumed right away that they would be delicious....sorry you didn't like them!

Looking forward to seeing what you bake for next week's cookie. And excited to bake along side you for the next 12 weeks!

They certainly look great - frosting or not! I can't wait to see what else we all come up with during the next twelve weeks!

I'm sorry you didn't like them. They certainly sound great! I agree, that's the great thing about food blogs -- I love it when you find honest reviews of something that someone else didn't love. :) Better luck next week!!
