krispy kreme doughnuts, hot doughnuts now
krispy kreme doughnuts, a southern staple. we did a little trip today to our local store. it was rainy, hot and humid, perfect doughnut eating weather. this place has been around since at least the mid 1960's. it has been a fixture in my family's overeating for years. i was always partial to the vanilla creme filled, chocolate glazed ones as a kid. today, i am no longer a big doughnut fan, but once in awhile one tastes pretty dang good. needless to say, my kids were pumped and that was before the sugar.
the doughnuts(choir sings), it is always hard to choose, so we opted for an assortment....decisions, decisions....
the spoils-6 original glazed, one cruller, one with sprinkles, one blueberry cake, one chocolate cake, one strawberry creme, one chocolate glaze. oh mama, now let the feasting begin!
don't ya just love the hats?
ahh, the french cruller, c'est mangnifique....
tres bien....
we paid dearly for this sugary treat about a half hour later....
part of the fun is watching them make the doughnuts. it's the closest thing to dinner theater my kids have ever experienced and, yes, it was pretty much their dinner.
it is mesmerizing....
i wish i could send you a dozen or two. krispy kreme doughnuts, get'em while they're hot!

Ooh yes these are so moreish when they're hot! I remember when they first opened here, we drove 2 hours each way to try them. Hubby thought I was mad but I was determined to try them and we were rewarded with a complimentary one fresh from the conveyor belt. Bliss!
We got our frist Krispy Kreme a few years ago, there were lines a mile long when they first opened.
I love Krispy Kreme plain glazed doughnuts...I was so sad when our store closed even though I only went there a couple times a year! YUM!
I love when that sign is on!
Drool..we have a KK here in Tampa..and when that "Hot Now" sign is on, it is alllll I can do not to pull in and get a dozen!
I love the plain glazed - they truly melt in your mouth. Mmmm good.
Our family loves KK. We usually order 2 tray at a time and finish them in... 2 minutes :P
Bethie do you remember when I was 14 I had a paper route. on Sunday morning after selling my extras on the corner at the light by that very K.K. I would go inside and the lady would pick three hot of the belt, with a long white stick. With a cold glass of milk it was heaven. Then back on my bike and back home to get ready for church.
oooh yeah - these are hard to beat - you were wise to get a dozen - who can eat just one?
